Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

The Delhi Chhatragruh Yojana is a welfare scheme of the Government of Madhya Pradesh aimed at supporting Other Backward Class (OBC) students pursuing higher education in Delhi. Recognizing the high cost of accommodation and living expenses in the national capital, the scheme provides financial assistance to eligible students so that they can continue their studies without financial hardship.

To strengthen educational opportunities for OBC students, the Madhya Pradesh Cabinet approved major revisions to the scheme in 2026. Under the revised provisions, the monthly assistance has been increased from ₹1,550 to ₹10,000, enabling eligible students to receive up to ₹1.20 lakh annually for accommodation and food expenses. The scheme's coverage has also been expanded, increasing the number of beneficiaries from 50 students per year to 100 new students annually, including both undergraduate and postgraduate students. Existing beneficiaries will also continue to receive the enhanced assistance for the remaining duration of their courses.

Through these reforms, the state government aims to reduce financial barriers to higher education and ensure that talented OBC students from Madhya Pradesh can access quality educational institutions in Delhi and build a brighter future.

The Government of Madhya Pradesh also runs several other education and career-support schemes for students from different backgrounds. For example, the Madhya Pradesh Shiksha Protsahan Puraskar Yojana provides financial rewards of ₹10,000 to ₹25,000 to encourage students pursuing higher education, while the Madhya Pradesh Shaikshanik Chatravriti Yojana offers scholarships ranging from ₹2,000 to ₹12,500 annually to support students from Class 5 to professional and postgraduate courses. Similarly, the Madhya Pradesh Shaurya Sankalp Parshikshan Yojana helps OBC and BC youth prepare for recruitment in the Army, Police, and other security forces through free residential training and a monthly stipend.
