Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

The Bihar Mukhyamantri Atyant Pichhda Varg Civil Seva Protsahan Yojana is a financial assistance scheme implemented by the Backward Class & Extremely Backward Class Welfare Department, Government of Bihar, to support candidates belonging to the Extremely Backward Class (EBC) category who qualify the preliminary stage of notified competitive examinations. The scheme provides a one-time financial incentive ranging from ₹30,000 to ₹1,00,000, depending on the examination qualified, enabling deserving candidates to continue their preparation for the Main Examination and subsequent stages without financial constraints. The incentive amount is transferred directly into the beneficiary's Aadhaar-seeded bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

The Bihar Government operates this scheme as part of the broader Mukhyamantri Bihar Civil Seva Protsahan Yojana initiative, under which separate financial assistance schemes have been introduced for different categories of candidates. These include the Mukhyamantri Mahila Civil Seva Protsahan Yojana for women candidates, the Mukhyamantri Anusuchit Jaati Evam Janjaati Civil Seva Protsahan Yojana for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates, and the Mukhyamantri Divyangjan Civil Seva Protsahan Yojana for persons with disabilities. Although these schemes target different beneficiary groups, they share the common objective of encouraging aspirants to pursue careers in the civil services and other prestigious government services.

Under the Bihar Mukhyamantri EBC Civil Seva Protsahan Yojana, candidates who qualify the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination receive an incentive of ₹1,00,000. Those who qualify the BPSC Combined Competitive Preliminary Examination receive ₹50,000, while candidates clearing other notified examinations receive financial assistance ranging from ₹30,000 to ₹75,000 as prescribed by the Government. The scheme also covers examinations such as the Indian Engineering Services, Indian Economic Services, Indian Statistical Services, Combined Geo-Scientist, Bihar Judicial Services, Combined Defence Services, CAPF, NDA, RBI Grade-B, Bank Probationary Officer, SSC Combined Graduate Level, Railway Recruitment Board Graduate Level, and other notified competitive examinations.

To avail the benefit, applicants must be permanent residents of Bihar and belong to the Extremely Backward Class (EBC) category notified by the State Government. They must have qualified the preliminary examination of an eligible competitive examination and submit their online application within 45 days of the declaration of the result. Applicants should not be employed in any Central or State Government department, public sector undertaking, board, or corporation. After successful verification of eligibility and documents by the Department, the approved incentive amount is credited directly to the beneficiary's bank account through DBT, helping talented EBC candidates continue their journey towards civil services and other government careers.

Eligibility Requirements

• The applicant must be a permanent resident of Bihar.
• The applicant must belong to the Extremely Backward Class (EBC) category notified by the Government of Bihar.
• The applicant must have qualified the preliminary examination of a notified competitive examination under the scheme.
• The applicant must not be employed in any Government Department, Public Sector Undertaking (PSU), Board, or Corporation under the Central or State Government.
