Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

A wedding is one of the most important milestones in a person's life, but for many families, the high cost of marriage arrangements can create a significant financial burden. Excessive spending on weddings, along with social issues such as dowry and child marriage, continues to affect many communities despite increasing awareness. To encourage simple, dignified, and legally registered marriages while supporting economically weaker families, the Government of Rajasthan launched the Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Evam Anudan Yojana in 2021.

The scheme promotes government-approved mass marriage ceremonies (Samuhik Vivah), where multiple eligible couples get married at a common venue. Instead of families spending large amounts on individual wedding ceremonies, the government provides financial assistance of ₹25,000 per eligible couple. Out of this amount, ₹21,000 is directly provided to the bride, while ₹4,000 is given to the organizing institution through the Integrated Financial Management System (IFMS) to support the conduct of the mass marriage event.

Apart from reducing the financial burden on families, the scheme also aims to discourage child marriage, eliminate unnecessary marriage expenses, reduce the practice of dowry, and ensure that every marriage is legally registered under the prescribed rules. By encouraging collective marriages across Rajasthan, the government seeks to promote social equality, responsible spending, and greater awareness of legal marriage practices.

Through this scheme, eligible couples participating in approved mass marriage ceremonies receive financial support while becoming part of a social reform initiative that promotes affordable weddings, women's welfare, and lawful marriage registration throughout the state.

The Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Evam Anudan Yojana is part of Rajasthan's broader effort to strengthen social welfare for women and families. Depending on their eligibility, beneficiaries may also explore the Rajasthan Chief Minister Kanyadan Yojana for marriage assistance, the Sukhad Dampatya Jeevan Yojana for supporting married couples, and the Lado Protsahan Yojana, which encourages the education, empowerment, and financial security of girls.

Scheme Benefits

Eligible couples receive financial assistance of ₹25,000 under the scheme.

The assistance is distributed as follows:

Eligibility Requirements

• The bride or groom must be a native resident of Rajasthan.
• The bride must be 18 years of age or above.
• The groom must be 21 years of age or above.
• Both the bride and groom must be unmarried before the marriage.
• The marriage must be legally registered as per applicable rules.
• The marriage must be conducted through an eligible institution organizing an approved mass marriage ceremony.

Steps to Apply

• Step 1: Participate in an Approved Mass Marriage Ceremony
  • The couple must participate in a mass marriage ceremony (Samuhik Vivah) organized by an institution approved under the scheme.
  • Before participating, make sure that the organizing institution is eligible to conduct the ceremony under the Rajasthan Government's guidelines.
• Step 2: Register the Marriage
  • After the marriage ceremony is completed, get the marriage officially registered as per the Rajasthan marriage registration rules.
  • Keep the Marriage Registration Certificate safe, as it is required for receiving the financial assistance.
• Step 3: Submission of Beneficiary Details
  • After the marriage registration, the organizing institution will upload the details of all eligible couples on the official portal.
  • The institution submits the information on behalf of the beneficiaries for grant approval.
• Step 4: Submit the Required Documents
  • The organizing institution uploads the required documents online.
  • It also submits the hard copies of all supporting documents to the concerned District Women Empowerment Office for verification.
• Step 5: Verification of the Application
  • The authorized officer checks the details and verifies the uploaded documents.
  • If any document or information is missing, the organizing institution may be asked to provide the required clarification or additional documents.
• Step 6: Approval and Release of Financial Assistance
  • Once the application is successfully verified and approved by the competent authority, the financial assistance is released under the scheme.
  • The eligible bride receives ₹21,000, while ₹4,000 is transferred to the organizing institution through IFMS.

Application Process After Marriage

After completion of the mass marriage ceremony:

• The organizing institution uploads beneficiary details online.
• A certified list of participating couples is submitted.
• Verified copies of marriage registration certificates are uploaded.
• Hard copies of all uploaded documents are submitted to the District Women Empowerment Office.

Verification During Marriage Ceremony

To ensure transparency and compliance:

• A competent authority or its authorized representative remains present during the marriage ceremony.
• The representative submits a report in the prescribed format regarding the conduct of the ceremony.
• A Tehsildar or another competent officer verifies the report where applicable.
• An Education Officer, Child Development Project Officer, or another Block-level officer/supervisor from the Women and Child Development Department may also be nominated.
• The Marriage Registration Officer must also be present at the venue.
• The organizing institution is responsible for ensuring that all documents required under the Rajasthan Compulsory
• Registration of Marriages Act, 2009 are submitted for marriage registration.
• Marriage registration must be completed within 60 daysafter the ceremony.

Application Scrutiny Process

• The proposal received for the mass marriage ceremony is examined by the authorized officer based on the submitted documents.
• If any deficiencies or objections are found, the organizing institution is instructed to rectify them.
• All objections must be resolved at least 7 days before the scheduled mass marriage ceremony.
• If the proposal fulfills all prescribed conditions, the authorized officer forwards it with recommendations.
• Eligible proposals are placed before the competent authority for final approval and grant sanction.
