Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

The Chhattisgarh Mukhyamantri Gyan Protsahan Yojana is a well-established initiative of the School Education Department, Government of Chhattisgarh, designed to honour and encourage academic excellence among students from the Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities. The scheme recognises meritorious students who perform exceptionally well in Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations by providing them with a meaningful one-time financial incentive and a certificate of appreciation. Through this effort, the state government aims to motivate talented students from these communities to continue their educational journey with greater confidence and to foster a healthy competitive spirit among peers.

Under the scheme, selected students receive a one-time incentive of ₹15,000, which is transferred directly to their bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The benefit is accompanied by a certificate that formally acknowledges their academic achievement. Eligibility is restricted to permanent residents of Chhattisgarh belonging to the SC or ST category who have secured a place in the merit list of the Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education (CGBSE). Limited seats are also available for meritorious students from CBSE and ICSE boards. Selection is strictly merit-based and limited to the annual targets fixed for each category, ensuring that the most deserving students are rewarded.

Eligible students can apply online through the official Chhattisgarh State Scholarship Portal. For the academic session 2026-27, the Directorate of Public Relations, Chhattisgarh, has confirmed that online registration for Class 10 and Class 12 meritorious students is currently open and will remain available until 30 August 2026 (up to 5 PM). By combining recognition with timely financial support, the Mukhyamantri Gyan Protsahan Yojana continues to play an important role in empowering talented SC and ST students and helping them take the next step in their educational and personal growth.

Scheme Benefits

  • One-time cash incentive of ₹15,000, credited directly to the student's bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), with no intermediaries.
  • Certificate of achievement recognising the student's place in the board merit list - valuable for future college admissions, scholarships, and interviews.
  • State-level recognition for SC and ST merit-holders, encouraging students and families to pursue higher education.
  • Coverage across all three major boards - CGBSE, CBSE, and ICSE - so students of different school types can benefit.
  • A fixed number of meritorious SC and ST students are selected each year across Class 10 and Class 12, distributed board-wise; the exact number and its category-wise split are specified in the official annual notification.
