Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

Rajasthan Free Laptop Scheme is a government initiative that supports digital education by helping meritorious students access laptops or tablets. The scheme covers selected students studying in Classes 8th, 10th and 12th and aims to improve their access to digital learning and educational technology. Students can use these devices to support their studies and make greater use of digital educational resources.

Earlier, the Rajasthan Government provided laptops/ tablets directly to selected meritorious students under the laptop distribution programme. The selection was based on merit, with students meeting the prescribed marks criteria considered for state-level and district-level merit lists. Under the established criteria, students securing 75% or more marks were considered at the state level, while students securing 70% or more marks were considered at the district level.

The benefit mechanism has now changed under the Rajasthan Budget 2026-27. The government has announced financial assistance of up to Rs. 20,000 through an e-Voucher for selected meritorious students studying in Classes 8th, 10th and 12th. Students can use this e-Voucher to purchase a laptop or tablet themselves. This new provision is also referred to as Rajasthan Laptop Voucher Yojana. Rajasthan also runs other student-focused initiatives, such as the Rajasthan Gargi Puraskar Yojana, which provides incentives to eligible girl students.

The Secondary Education Department, Rajasthan is responsible for the implementation of Free Laptop Scheme. The government has also set a target to distribute 33,000 laptops during the financial year 2026-27 and allocated Rs. 11.72 crore for the laptop distribution programme. The initiative continues Rajasthan's focus on providing digital-device support to meritorious students while introducing an e-Voucher-based method of assistance.

Students looking for information about the Rajasthan Free Laptop Yojana can check the eligibility criteria, merit requirements, assistance amount, distribution target and application process in this article. The information will be updated if the Rajasthan Government issues further guidelines or makes changes to the implementation process for the current academic session.

Rajasthan Laptop Voucher Yojana

Scheme Benefits

Rajasthan Free Laptop Scheme provides digital-device support to meritorious students. Earlier, selected students received laptops or tablets directly from the government. Under the 2026-27 provision, the government has announced an e-Voucher through which selected students can purchase a Tablet or Laptop themselves.

  • Selected meritorious students of Classes 8th, 10th and 12th can receive assistance.
  • Students can receive financial assistance of up to Rs. 20,000 through an e-Voucher.
  • Students can use the e-Voucher to purchase a Tablet or Laptop.
  • Earlier, the scheme provided physical laptops to selected beneficiaries.
  • The scheme promotes access to digital technology for educational purposes.

Eligibility Requirements

Rajasthan Free Laptop Scheme is intended to benefit meritorious students studying in Classes 8th, 10th and 12th. The established eligibility criteria for the scheme are listed below:

  • The student must be a permanent resident of Rajasthan.
  • Student must be studying in a state government school.
  • Student must be studying in Class 8th, 10th or 12th.
  • The family's annual income should not exceed Rs. 1 Lakh.
  • The student must fulfil the prescribed merit criteria.
  • Students securing 75% or more marks are considered for the state-level merit list.
  • Students securing 70% or more marks are considered for the district-level merit list.

Note: The above criteria are based on the established eligibility conditions of the laptop distribution scheme. The Rajasthan Budget 2026-27 has introduced the e-Voucher mode of assistance, and any changes to the eligibility conditions for the current academic session will be updated after the government issues detailed implementation guidelines.

Required Documents

The available government documents do not provide a final list of documents required specifically for the current Tablet/Laptop e-Voucher benefit. Therefore, the document list from the earlier version of the scheme should not be presented as the confirmed requirement for 2026-27.

  • The final document list has not yet been specified.
  • Students should keep their educational and identification records available for verification.
  • Students will need to submit any additional documents prescribed by the concerned department.

Steps to Apply

Under the existing selection process, students do not need to submit a separate application for the Rajasthan Free Laptop Scheme. Eligible students are identified through the merit-based selection process, and the benefit is provided to selected beneficiaries.

  • The concerned department prepares the list of eligible and meritorious students based on the prescribed selection criteria.
  • The selected students are identified from Classes 8th, 10th and 12th.
  • The department processes the benefit for the selected students through the prescribed government system.
  • Under the current provision, selected students will receive the benefit through an e-Voucher for purchasing a Tablet or Laptop.
  • Students should check the official Rajasthan education department portal or contact their school for information about their selection and benefit.

Note: If the Rajasthan Government makes any changes to the application or selection process for the current academic session, we will update this section accordingly.
