Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

The Uttar Pradesh Vishwakarma Shram Samman Yojana is an important initiative of the Government of Uttar Pradesh aimed at providing necessary support to traditional artisans and workers engaged in various skill-based occupations. The scheme provides artisans with skill-development training, better tools, financial assistance, and opportunities to access markets, enabling them to improve their traditional occupations in line with changing technology and market requirements.

The scheme is implemented by the Directorate of Industries under the MSME framework of Uttar Pradesh. Its objective is not limited to providing training to artisans; it also focuses on strengthening their work efficiency and self-employment opportunities by providing better tools and the necessary support to expand their businesses. Over time, the scope of the scheme has been expanded to include certain modern technical and service-based trades along with traditional occupations.

The expanded form of the Uttar Pradesh Vishwakarma Shram Samman Yojana is now being taken forward as Vishwakarma Shram Samman Yojana 2.0. Under the scheme, eligible beneficiaries receive free skill-development training for 10 days. After completing the training, eligible artisans are also provided with an advanced toolkit worth up to ₹15,000 related to their trade, enabling them to carry out their work with better equipment.

In addition, the scheme provides eligible trained beneficiaries with loan assistance of up to ₹10 lakh. The current official scheme details mention a 15% margin money subsidy, along with loan assistance without collateral security and without interest, subject to the applicable scheme conditions. In September 2026, beneficiaries were provided a ₹5,000 stipend during the training period. Along with skill and toolkit support, the scheme also promotes access to technology, design, marketing, digital platforms, and e-commerce channels to help artisans reach wider markets.

The Directorate of Industries and Enterprise Promotion, Uttar Pradesh, also operates several other schemes aimed at promoting employment, self-employment, and entrepreneurship among the people of the state. These include the Uttar Pradesh Mukhyamantri Yuva Swarojgar Yojana, which provides financial assistance to educated unemployed youth to establish enterprises in the industrial and service sectors; the Uttar Pradesh Handicraft Marketing Incentive Scheme, which supports artisans in marketing their products and expanding their market reach; and the Uttar Pradesh Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Vikas Abhiyan, which provides financial and loan assistance to young people for establishing micro-enterprises and developing self-employment opportunities.

Scheme Benefits

The key benefits provided under the scheme are as follows:

• Free Skill-Development Training: Eligible beneficiaries receive free skill-development training for 10 days based on market demand.
• Toolkit Worth Up to ₹15,000: After completing the training, eligible beneficiaries receive an advanced toolkit worth up to ₹15,000 related to their trade.
• Loan Assistance Up to ₹10 Lakh: The scheme provides eligible trained beneficiaries with loan assistance of up to ₹10 lakh for establishing or expanding a business, technological upgradation, quality improvement, packaging, and other permitted business activities.
• 15% Margin Money Subsidy: A 15% margin money subsidy is provided along with the loan assistance.
• Collateral-Free and Interest-Free Loan: Loan assistance is provided without collateral security and without interest, subject to the prescribed scheme conditions.
• Technology and Market Access: The scheme provides exposure to new technologies, product development, design and marketing, along with assistance in accessing digital platforms and e-commerce channels.
• ₹5,000 Training Stipend: A stipend of ₹5,000 is provided during the 10-day training period.

Beneficiary Contribution

Under the loan assistance component, beneficiaries are required to deposit a certain portion of the project cost as their own contribution with the bank:

• Male beneficiaries from the General Category: 10% of the project cost
• Women, third-gender persons, Divyangjan and ex-servicemen: 5% of the project cost

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet the following eligibility conditions to apply under Vishwakarma Shram Samman Yojana 2.0:

• The applicant must be a legal resident of Uttar Pradesh.
• The applicant must be at least 18 years of age.
• The applicant must be engaged in a relevant trade covered under the scheme's 25 notified trades.
• The applicant must not have received any toolkit during the previous two years.

The following documents are required to avail the benefits of the Uttar Pradesh Vishwakarma Shram Samman Yojana:

• Identity proof, such as Aadhaar Card/Voter ID, etc.
• Age proof
• Caste certificate, if applicable

Steps to Apply

Applicants can follow these steps to apply for the Vishwakarma Shram Samman Yojana:

1. Visit the UPMSME portal of the Directorate of Industries, Uttar Pradesh.
2. On the homepage, click on the Apply tab.
3. If you are applying for the first time, click on New User Registration and complete the registration process.
4. Applicants who are already registered can log in using their existing credentials.
5. Enter the required details on the portal to log in.
6. After logging in, the application form related to the scheme will appear on the screen.
7. Fill in all the required information correctly and upload the necessary documents.
8. Submit the application form and keep the reference or application number safely for future tracking.

How to Check Application Status?

Applicants can check the status of their application through the UPMSME portal by following these steps:

1. Visit the Uttar Pradesh UPMSME portal.
2. On the homepage, click on the Apply tab.
3. Under the application status option, enter the application number, registered date of birth, and registered mobile number.
4. Click on Check Application Status to view the relevant details.
