Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

The Madhya Pradesh Single Girl Child Scholarship Scheme, also known as Madhya Pradesh Iklauti Beti Chhatravritti Yojana, is a focused girl-child education support programme implemented by the School Education Department of the Government of Madhya Pradesh. Its core purpose is clear and meaningful: to encourage families to continue educating their only daughter and to reduce the financial pressure of higher secondary schooling. The scheme aims to ensure that a single girl child does not have to leave her studies midway because of limited resources at home.

The thinking behind it is social as much as financial. By offering a direct reward to families raising a single girl child, the state hopes to push back against son-preference, keep girls in school through Classes 11 and 12, and reduce dropout rates at the exact stage where many girls quietly leave the classroom. The scholarship money lands straight in the student's own bank account, so there is no middleman and no queue at a government office.

The student does not fill out any online application form herself. She simply submits the required documents to her school. The school staff then register and update her profile along with the scholarship claim on the Madhya Pradesh Shiksha Portal. After verification by the concerned officers, the scholarship amount is transferred directly to her Aadhaar-linked bank account. An active bank account seeded with Aadhaar has become essential so that the money reaches her without delay.

The Government of Madhya Pradesh is also running several other similar schemes to promote girls' education, including the Madhya Pradesh Pratibha Kiran Yojana and the Madhya Pradesh Gaon Ki Beti Yojana.

Scheme Benefits

Under the Single Girl Child Scholarship, here is what an eligible student actually receives:

• A scholarship of ₹5,000 per year, credited directly to the girl student's bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
• The amount is meant to support higher secondary education (Class 11 and Class 12), helping with tuition, books, and everyday study costs.
• Because the transfer is digital and account-based, there is no cash handling and no paperwork trip to collect it once your profile is approved.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify, the student generally needs to meet all of the following conditions:

• She must be a female student and the only child (single girl child) of her parents.
• The family must be a permanent resident of Madhya Pradesh.
• She must have secured at least 60% marks in the Class 10 board examination conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE).
• She must be currently enrolled in Class 11 or Class 12.
• She should be studying in a recognised private school where the monthly tuition fee is below ₹1,500.
• She must have passed the previous class without a break in her studies.

Steps to Apply

MP Single Girl Child Scholarship Scheme does not have a separate online form for students. The process is handled entirely through the school. The school teacher updates the student’s profile on the Shiksha Portal.

• For this, the Student needs to submit the required documents (Aadhaar, Class 10 mark sheet, single-child proof, bank details, photo, etc.) to the class teacher or school office on time.
• The student's profile is entered on the Shiksha Portal (https://shikshaportal.mp.gov.in) by the teacher of the educational institution according to the records and certificates provided by the student.
• After filling in the details, the school locks the profile. The School Principal/ Sankul Principal checks and verifies it before forwarding.
• The Block Education Officer and District Education Officer review the application on the portal and confirm eligibility.
• Once approved, ₹5,000 is transferred directly into the student's bank account through DBT. No fee is charged at any stage.
• Students or parents should stay in touch with the school for the exact timeline and confirm that the profile has been locked and forwarded properly.
