Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

• Finance Minister of Uttar Pradesh Shri Suresh Khanna presents State Budget on 11-02-2026.
• He again announced to start "Rani Laxmi Bai Scooty Yojana" in the state for meritorious girl students.
• The main objective behind announcing this scheme is to encourage girl students to pursue and complete their higher education.
• Department of Higher Education of Uttar Pradesh Government is going to be the nodal department of this scheme.
• Free-of-cost scooty will be provided to all eligible meritorious girls students under Rani Laxmi Bai Scooty Yojana.
• Scooty provided under this scheme can be used by girl beneficiaries for their daily commute from home to college and back.
• This scheme will be implemented in a phased manner in the Uttar Pradesh.
• In the first phase of the Rani Laxmi Bai Scooty Yojana of the Uttar Pradesh Government, Free Scooty will only be provided to the final year girl students of Graduation and post-graduation courses.
• In the next phase, the government will cover the meritorious topper of Class 12th.
• Girl Students will have to take admission in any college after passing class 12th to get the benefit of a free scooter under the Uttar Pradesh Government's Rani Laxmi Bai Free Scooty Yojana.
• Uttar Pradesh Government had earlier allocated a budget of Rs 400 crore for the financial year 2025-26 for the smooth implementation of this scheme.
• For the year 2026-2027, the UP Government again allocated the budget of Rs. 400/- for the implementation of Rani Lakshmi Bai Scooty Yojana.
• Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath had announced on 08-03-2026, that the Rani Lakshmi Bai Free Scooty Yojana will soon be launched in the State.
• Higher Education Department will soon release the official guidelines for this scheme.
• Application Process, Remaining Eligibility Conditions and other details of this scheme will be cleared after the release of guidelines.
• Right now, Rani Laxmibai Scooty Yojana is just an announcement and will be launched in the coming days.

Scheme Benefits

• Eligible Class 12th Meritorious Girl Students who are currently studying in college will get the below mentioned benefits from the Uttar Pradesh Government under Rani Laxmibai Scooty Yojana :-
  • Free of Cost Scooty will be provided.
  • Each Meritorious Girl Student will get a Scooty from the Government without any cost.

Eligibility Requirements

• Uttar Pradesh Government will provide a free-of-cost scooty to only those students who fulfil the following eligibility conditions of Rani Laxmi Bai Scooty Yojana : -
  • Permanent Resident Girl Students of Uttar Pradesh are only Eligible.
  • Girl Students studying in the final year of Graduation and Post Graduation Course is eligible for the first phase of the scheme.
  • Class 12th Meritorious Student will be covered in the next phase.
  • The remaining eligibility conditions will be issued with the guidelines.

Required Documents

• Beneficiary Meritorious Girl Students will have to submit the following expected documents when submitting an application to get a free scooter under Uttar Pradesh Government's Rani Laxmi Bai Scooty Yojana : -
  • Aadhaar Card.
  • Residence Proof.
  • Class 10th and Class 12th Marksheet.
  • Income Certificate.
  • Domicile Certificate.
  • Passport Size Photograph.
  • Mobile Number.

Steps to Apply

• Uttar Pradesh Government again announced Rani Laxmi Bai Scooty Yojana in the State budget for the year 2026-2027.
• There might be a possibility that this scheme will going to launch from the next academic session.
• At present, this is just an announcement from the government side and no other information about the application process is available.
• Higher Education Department will soon draft the guidelines of the Rani Laxmi Bai Scooty Yojana and get it approved by the cabinet.
• After approval from the cabinet, this scheme will be implemented in the whole of Uttar Pradesh.
• The application process of the Rani Laxmibai Scooty Yojana of the Uttar Pradesh Government will be decided by the concerned department.
• The official website of the Rani Laxmi Bai Scooty Scheme might also be launched to accept online applications or to monitor the scheme implementation.
• Eligible college-going girl students who are in the final year of their graduation or post-graduation course will have to wait a little bit more in order to avail the benefit of a free-of-cost scooter under this scheme.
