Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

Widowed women often face severe financial hardships after losing their life partners, especially when they lack independent income sources. Understanding this harsh reality, the Government of Madhya Pradesh launched the Mukhyamantri Kalyani Pension Scheme to provide regular financial assistance and social security to widows across the state.

The word 'Kalyani' refers to widowed women in Hindi. This scheme extends support to all widowed women, regardless of their age, as long as they meet the eligibility conditions. The government provides a monthly pension of Rs 600 directly into the beneficiary's bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), ensuring timely and transparent delivery of benefits.

By offering a monthly pension of Rs 600, the scheme aims to ensure a minimum level of financial independence and dignity for beneficiaries. It specifically targets economically weaker women who are not income taxpayers, not employed in government services, and are registered under the Samagra Portal, thereby promoting inclusive welfare and support for those in need. Apart from this scheme, the Madhya Pradesh government runs other pension schemes to provide financial support to the other people, such as Old Age Pension, Parityakt Pension, Avivahit Pension, Nishakt Pension, and others.

Eligibility Requirements

• The applicant must be a resident of Madhya Pradesh
• The applicant must be a Kalyani (a widowed woman)
• The applicant must be 18 years of age or older
• The applicant should not be an income taxpayer
• The applicant should not be a Government employee/officer (including State/Central Government or government-funded institutions)
• The applicant should not be receiving a family pension or any other pension
• The applicant's name must be registered on the Samagra Portal

Steps to Apply

Eligible beneficiaries can apply for the Mukhyamantri Kalyani Pension Scheme either online or offline.

Online Application Process

• Visit the Social Security Pension Portal and go to "Online Application for Pension Schemes" under Services.
• First, choose your district and local body. Enter your 9-digit Samagra ID, complete the captcha, and proceed by clicking on "Apply for Pension."
• Next, verify your identity through OTP. Provide your mobile number, generate the OTP, enter it, and complete the verification process.
• After verification, review the applicant's details carefully. Then fill in your bank information, including bank type, bank name, district, branch, and account number.
• Select the Mukhyamantri Kalyani Pension Scheme (₹600 per month) from the list of available schemes.
• Upload the required documents, such as your photograph (30–60 KB) and a copy of your bank passbook. Enter your mobile number and accept the declaration.
• Finally, click on "Submit Application." Your application will be forwarded for verification, and the concerned authority will review your details or contact you if needed.

Offline Application Process

• The applicant must apply in the prescribed application format
• Rural areas: Gram Panchayat / Janpad Panchayat
• Urban areas: Municipal Corporation / Nagar Palika / Nagar Parishad
• Submit the application along with the required documents
• After submission, the application will be verified by the concerned authority
• If documents are incorrect, the application will be rejected with reasons
• If documents are correct, the application will be approved as per the rules
• After approval, the beneficiary will start receiving the pension
